How to buy a used engine
Here are some tips to see in how good a shape an engine is.
- First pull the plugs and read them, see section Spark plug reading.
- While they’re out, do a compression test. What you look for is approximately the same result in all cylinders, there’s no absolute number to reach, but it has to be consistent among cylinders. No cylinder should be more than 10% below the average of the others
